อักษรมณีปุระ (Manipuri alphabet), อักษรไมไตมะเยก (Meitei Mayek) หรือ อักษรมีไตมะเยก (ꯃꯤꯇꯩ ꯃꯌꯦꯛ; Meetei Mayek) เป็นอักษรสระประกอบที่ใช้ในภาษามณีปุระ ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในภาษาทางการของรัฐมณีปุระ เคยถูกใช้จนถึงคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 18 เมื่อภาษานี้ถูกแทนที่ด้วยอักษรเบงกอล ทำให้มีเอกสารตัวเขียนไม่กี่อันที่เหลือรอด ในคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 20 จึงเริ่มมีการใช้อักษรนี้อีกครั้ง[4]

เนื่องจากภาษามณีปุระไม่มีพยัญชนะก้อง ทำให้มีตัวพยัญชนะสำหรับศัพท์ดั้งเดิมแต่ 15 ตัว บวกพยัญชนะสำหรับสระบริสุทธิ์ 3 ตัว 9 พยัญชนะสำหรับคำยืมในกลุ่มภาษาอินเดีย มีเครื่องหมายเสริมสัทอักษร 7 แบบ และเครื่องหมายเสริมสัทอักษรพยัญชนะสุดท้าย (/ŋ/) ชื่อของพยัญชนะ 27 ตัวไม่เป็นเพียงชื่อทางสัทศาสตร์เท่านั้น แต่ยังอิงมาจากส่วนต่าง ๆ ของร่างกายมนุษย์ด้วย[5]

ชื่อตัวอักษร[แก้]

หนึ่งในคุณสมบัติเฉพาะของอักษรนี้คือการใช้ส่วนของร่างกายไปตั้งเป็นชื่ออักษร[6] ทุกตัวอักษรตั้งชื่อตามส่วนร่างกายของมนุษย์ในภาษามณีปุระ เช่น ตัวอักษรแรก "kok" แปลว่า "หัว"; ตัวอักษรที่สอง "sam" แปลว่า "ผม"; ตัวอักษรที่สาม "lai" แปลว่า "หน้าผาก" เป็นต้น โดยมีหลักฐานจากหนังสือศักดิ์สิทธิ์ "Wakoklol Heelel Theelel Salai Amailol Pukok Puya" ซึ่งมีรายละเอียดว่าชื่อของแต่ละตัวอักษรมีที่มาอย่างไร[7]
