ความทรงจำแห่งโลก[1] (อังกฤษ: Memory of the World, ฝรั่งเศส: Mémoire du monde) คือแผนงานที่องค์การศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์ และวัฒนธรรมแห่งสหประชาชาติ หรือยูเนสโก กำหนดขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2535 (ค.ศ. 1992) เพื่อมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อการอนุรักษ์ และการเผยแพร่มรดกภูมิปัญญาของโลกที่บันทึกไว้เป็นลายลักษณ์อักษร ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการบันทึกไว้ในรูปแบบใดหรือของประเทศใดก็ตาม ถือว่าเป็นแหล่งรวมความคิด ความรู้ ประสบการณ์ ที่สามารถสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความหลากหลายทั้งในด้านของวัฒนธรรม จากสังคมในอดีตให้แก่สังคมปัจจุบัน และเพื่อที่จะสืบสานส่งต่อให้แก่สังคมในอนาคต

วัตถุประสงค์

  1. เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกในการอนุรักษ์โดยวิธีที่เหมาะสมที่สุด
  2. เพื่อช่วยเหลือให้มีการเผยแพร่เอกสารมรดกอย่างกว้างขวางที่สุด
  3. เพื่อเผยแพร่ความตระหนักในความสำคัญของเอกสารมรดกอย่างกว้างขวางทั่วโลก

หลักเกณฑ์ในการคัดเลือก

หลักเกณฑ์ในการคัดเลือกเอกสารมรดก ดังต่อไปนี้ ใช้ได้ในการคัดเลือกเอกสารมรดกที่มีคุณค่าต่อประเทศ ต่อภูมิภาค และต่อโลก [2]

  1. หลักเกณฑ์ที่ 1 ความเป็นของแท้ (Authenticity)
  2. หลักเกณฑ์ที่ 2 มีความโดดเด่นและไม่อาจทดแทนได้ (Unique and Irriplaceable)
  3. หลักเกณฑ์ที่ 3 มีความสำคัญในระดับโลก ในเรื่องเวลาและอายุ (Time) สถานที่ (Place) บุคคล (People) เนื้อหาสาระแนวคิด (Subject and Theme) และ รูปแบบและวิธีเขียน (Form and Style)
  4. หลักเกณฑ์ที่ 4 ลักษณะอื่นๆ ได้แก่ ความหายาก (Rarity) ความบริบูรณ์ (Integrity) ความเสี่ยง (Threat) และโครงการบริหารจัดการ (Management plan)
