ช่วงเริ่มต้น

ก็องเต เคยเป็นนักฟุตบอลระดับเยาวชนของบูลอญ และได้ลงสนามในฐานะนักฟุตบอลอาชีพเป็นครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม ค.ศ. 2012 ในการแข่งขันลีกเดอ นัดที่บูลอญแพ้คาบ้านต่ออาแอสโมนาโก 1–2 [1] ต่อมาในฤดูกาล 2012–13 ก็องเต ยังคงเล่นให้กับบูลอญที่ตกชั้นลงมาแข่งขันในระดับดิวิชัน 3 ฝรั่งเศส

เลสเตอร์ซิตี

ในฤดูกาล 2015–2016 ก็องเต ย้ายมาอยู่กับ เลสเตอร์ซิตี เขาทำผลงานได้ยอดเยี่ยมและพาสโมสรคว้าแชมป์พรีเมียร์ลีกสมัยแรกได้ และเป็นการคว้าแชมป์พรีเมียร์ลีกครั้งแรกของเจ้าตัวเองด้วย

เชลซี

หลังจบฤดูกาล 2015–16 หรือช่วงก่อนเริ่มฤดูกาล 2016–17 ก็องเตจึงได้ย้ายไปสู่เชลซี ด้วยค่าตัวคาดว่าประมาณ 32 ล้านปอนด์ (ประมาณ 1,760 ล้านบาท) ด้วยระยะเวลาสัญญา 5 ปี[2] และในฤดูกาลเดียวกันนี้ ก็องเตได้รับรางวัลนักฟุตบอลยอดเยี่ยมแห่งปีของพีเอฟเออีกด้วย[3]

ทีมชาติ

จากผลงานการเล่นที่ยอดเยี่ยม ทำให้ก็องเตได้ติดทีมชาติฝรั่งเศส ชุดแข่งขันในรายการฟุตบอลชิงแชมป์แห่งชาติยุโรป 2016 แต่เป็นได้แค่รองแชมป์ หลังแพ้ให้ทีมชาติโปรตุเกส 1-0 ในรอบชิงชนะเลิศ

ในฟุตบอลโลก 2018 ก็องเตเป็นกำลังสำคัญที่พาทีมชาติฝรั่งเศสคว้าแชมป์ฟุตบอลโลกสมัยที่ 2 ได้สำเร็จ
