Nepenthes mindanaoensis มาจากภาษาละติน Mindanao เกาะฟิลิปปินส์ -ensis แปลว่า "จาก" เป็นพืชถิ่นเดียวบนเนินเขาศิลาแลงบนเกาะมินดาเนาในประเทศฟิลิปปินส์ เป็นญาติใกล้ชิดกับ N. alata.
