รางวัลแกรมมี สาขาเพลงแห่งปี (อังกฤษ: Grammy Award for Song of the Year) เป็นรางวัลเกียรติยศที่มอบให้ในงานประกาศผลรางวัลแกรมมี ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 1959 และเดิมเรียกว่ารางวัลกราโมโฟน[1] รางวัลแกรมมี สาขาบันทึกเสียงแห่งปีเป็นหนึ่งในสี่รางวัลใหญ่ของงาน "สนามทั่วไป" (ร่วมกับรางวัลอัลบั้มแห่งปี, รางวัลบันทึกเสียงแห่งปี และรางวัลศิลปินหน้าใหม่ยอดเยี่ยม) ตามคู่มือคำอธิบายรางวัลแกรมมีประจำปี ครั้งที่ 54 รางวัลนี้นำเสนอ:

เพื่อเป็นเกียรติแก่ความสำเร็จทางศิลปะ ความสามารถด้านเทคนิค และความเป็นเลิศโดยรวมในอุตสาหกรรมการบันทึกเสียง โดยไม่คำนึงถึงยอดขายอัลบั้มหรืออันดับชาร์ต[2]

หากเพลงที่ชนะมีตัวอย่างหรือการแก้ไขเนื้อหาที่มีอยู่ ผู้เผยแพร่และผู้แต่งเพลงของเพลงต้นฉบับสามารถยื่นขอใบรับรองผู้ชนะได้[3]

ความแตกต่างของสาขาเพลงแห่งปีแตกต่างจากสาขาบันทึกเสียงแห่งปี และสาขาอัลบั้มแห่งปี มีแนวคิด คือ:

  • รางวัลบันทึกเสียงแห่งปี เป็นรางวัลสำหรับซิงเกิล หรือเพลงเดียวจากอัลบั้ม รางวัลนี้มอบให้เป็นของศิลปินที่แสดง โปรดิวเซอร์ วิศวกรบันทึกเสียง และ/หรือมิกเซอร์สำหรับเพลงนั้น ในความหมายนี้ "การบันทึก" (record) หมายถึงเพลงที่บันทึกไว้โดยเฉพาะ ไม่ใช่องค์ประกอบการแต่งเพลง หรืออัลบั้มเพลง
  • รางวัลเพลงแห่งปีเป็นรางวัลสำหรับซิงเกิล หรืออินดิวิดวลแทร็ก แต่ผู้ที่ได้รับรางวัลนี้คือนักแต่งเพลงที่แต่งเนื้อร้อง และ/หรือทำนองให้กับเพลงจริง ๆ ในความหมายนี้ "เพลง" (Song) หมายถึงเพลงที่แต่งขึ้น ไม่ใช่การบันทึกเสียง
  • รางวัลอัลบั้มแห่งปีสำหรับทั้งเพลงอัลบั้ม และมอบรางวัลให้กับศิลปิน นักแต่งเพลง โปรดิวเซอร์ วิศวกรบันทึกเสียง และวิศวกรมาสเตอริงสำหรับอัลบั้มนั้น ในความหมายนี้ "อัลบั้ม" (album) หมายถึงชุดเพลงที่บันทึกไว้ (แผ่นเสียงหลายแทร็ก ซีดี หรือแพ็กเกจดาวน์โหลด) ไม่ใช่เพลงแต่ละเพลงหรือการแต่งเพลง
