The royal sponsered funeral of Petty Officer Saman[แก้]
Hi!
Petty Officer Saman Kunan died, during the rescue operation.
In the ("bigger") Norwegian article, for now I choose not to write the phrase "royal sponsored burial".
An announcement has already been made, that the burial will have royal sponsorship.
(In my country, we have a king, but not a system for formal royal sponsorship of a select funerals.)
Please, if someone can describe to me, what is expected to be the next step of the funeral (of Petty Officer Saman), that will have characteristics (or signs) of a royal sponsered funeral.
I intend to translate that information, into the (mentioned) Norwegian article.
(For information: I do not expect that I will ask this question at en-wiki.)
Thank you! Sju hav (คุย) 15:29, 6 กรกฎาคม 2561 (ICT)
The article "Thai funeral", does not have the specifics, of the mentioned funeral. Sju hav (คุย) 15:33, 6 กรกฎาคม 2561 (ICT)
Dead ex-Navy Seal. Is he wiki-notable enough for a stand-alone article?[แก้]
Hi!
Is there a better page on Thai-wiki to ask if any of the following topics might be wiki-notable for a stand-alone article?
I know that wikipedia is not a place for creating memorials (so of course I am not suggesting creating a memorial).
References that might indicate that his biography and/or death and/or published "attention" from significant and notable sources,
is wiki-notable, are:
New York Times writes: [1] (New York Times) wrote: "King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, who has closely monitored the rescue operation, directed that Mr. Saman receive a royal-sponsored funeral and that his family be taken care of."
[2]. (translated title: Saman (38) died during the rescue operation. Now he is hailed as a hero - It has influenced all of us, said Danish diving-instructor). Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.
"His Majesty the King to promote Saman posthumously and was looking into what benefits his family could receive because he died helping the rescue operation, even though he had retired from the navy."
"A royal bathing rite and chanting ceremony were held at Wat Sattahip. The body of the 37-year-old former member of the navy's elite Underwater Demolition Assault Unit (known as Seals) will make its final journey from Sattahip to his home in Chatuphak Piman district in Roi Et "
"He was one of 28 former Seal members working at AoT who had decided to join the rescue operation, he added. "
Some might say that the dead man is only known for one thing.
Such might not be an accurate view in this case.
Case in point: The Guardian wrote, "Amid global jubilation many are pausing to remember Saman Kunan, the former Thai Navy Seal who died last week trying to save the boys. They include the Italian football team AS Roma and the Spanish royal family." (This thread has been copied from German-wiki.
The first three who answered on German-wiki, did not think there should be a separate article.)
I think that there should be an article about him, on Thai-wiki.
An article about his death, or about him, is wiki-notable in my view.
(Perhaps he is even regarded as Thailand's biggest hero this year. And one would need references for such a claim.)
And when there is one article on Thai-wiki, then I expect to write an article in my language. Hooyah! 176.11.69.171 10:31, 12 กรกฎาคม 2561 (ICT)
Here is สมาน กุนัน article and also exist on zh-yue.wikipedia in this time. --B20180 (คุย) 10:36, 12 กรกฎาคม 2561 (ICT)
Thanks a lot!
I was under the impression that his name (in the Thai article about the Tham Luang cave rescue),
did not have a blue-link. (Perhaps
something got lost on my part, while machine-translating the Thai page. Regards! 176.11.69.171 15:48, 12 กรกฎาคม 2561 (ICT)
