เดซีเดริอุส เอรัสมุส โรเตโรดามุส (ละติน: Desiderius Erasmus Roterodamus) หรือ เดซีเดริอุส เอรัสมุส แห่งรอตเทอร์ดาม[note 1] (28 ตุลาคม[1] ค.ศ. 1466[2] - 12 กรกฎาคม ค.ศ. 1536) เป็นนักมนุษยนิยมสมัยฟื้นฟูศิลปวิทยา นักวิจารณ์สังคม ครู บาทหลวงโรมันคาทอลิก และนักเทววิทยาศาสนาคริสต์ชาวดัตช์

เอรัสมุส เป็นนักวิชาการคลาสสิก แต่งหนังสือด้วยภาษาละตินแท้ได้ ในวงการมนุษยนิยมเขาได้รับสมญาว่า “เจ้าชายแห่งนักมนุษยนิยม” (Prince of the Humanists) และ "ความรุ่งโรจน์แห่งนักมนุษยนิยมคริสเตียน"[3] เขาใช้เทคนิคทางมนุษยนิยมศึกษาตัวบทต่าง ๆ จนสามารถริเริ่มปรับปรุงคัมภีร์พันธสัญญาใหม่ฉบับภาษากรีกและละติน ซึ่งมีอิทธิพลต่อการปฏิรูปศาสนาฝ่ายโปรเตสแตนต์และการปฏิรูปคาทอลิกในเวลาต่อมา

แม้เอรัสมุสจะต้านการปฏิรูปศาสนาของฝ่ายโปรเตสแตนต์ แต่เขาก็วิพากษ์วิจารณ์ศาสนจักรคาทอลิกและเรียกร้องให้ศาสนจักรปฏิรูปด้วย เขายังคงยอมรับสิทธิอำนาจของพระสันตะปาปา และให้ความสำคัญการรักษาขนบที่สืบทอดมาควบคู่กับการพึ่งอาศัยพระคุณจากพระเจ้า ต่างจากมาร์ติน ลูเทอร์ ที่เน้นเรื่องพระคุณจากพระเจ้าอย่างเดียว เอรัสมุสจึงนับถือนิกายโรมันคาทอลิกตลอดชีวิต[4]และยังคงสนับสนุนการปฏิรูปภายในศาสนจักร นอกจากนี้เขายังเชื่อตามศาสนจักรคาทอลิกว่ามนุษย์มีเจตจำนงเสรี ต่างจากลัทธิคาลวินที่ปฏิเสธแนวคิดนี้เพราะถือว่าทุกสิ่งเป็นไปตามเทวลิขิต แนวคิดสายกลางของเขา ทำให้เขาถูกต่อต้านทั้งจากศาสนจักรคาทอลิกฝ่ายอนุรักษนิยมและฝ่ายโปรเตสแตนต์

เอรัสมุสเกิดในนครรอตเทอร์ดาม ประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ หลังจากอาศัยอยู่ที่อารามคณะออกัสติเนียนแห่งหนึ่งเป็นเวลา 6 ปีก็ได้เป็นเลขานุการส่วนตัวของ บิชอปแห่งแคมบราอิ และบวชเป็นบาทหลวงเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2035 ต่อมาเอรัสมุสจึงได้ย้ายไปอยู่ปารีสมีอาชีพเป็นครูและย้ายไปอยู่ลอนดอนในปี พ.ศ. 2041 โดยดำรงตำแหน่งศาสตราจารย์สาขาศาสนศาสตร์ (Divinity) และกรีกที่มหาวิทยาลัยเคมบริดจ์ และที่นี่เองที่เอรัสมุสได้เขียนหนังสือประเภทเสียดสีเรื่อง “การสดุดีคนโง่” (พ.ศ. 2052) นับตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2057 เป็นต้นมา อีราสมุสย้ายที่อยู่อาศัยไปมาระหว่างเมืองบาเซิลและลอนดอน ต่อมาได้ย้ายไปอยู่ที่เมืองลูเวียน (ในเบลเยียม พ.ศ. 2060-2064) ในช่วงนี้อีราสมุสได้ผลิตผลงานเขียนที่มีชื่อเสียงอีกหลายเล่ม
