เทอโรแดคทิลลัส (อังกฤษ: Pterodactylus กรีก: πτεροδάκτυλος) เป็นสกุลหนึ่งของเทอโรซอร์ที่รู้จักกันในชื่อ เทอโรแดคทิล (pterodactyls) ตอนนี้มีอยู่แค่หนึ่งสายพันธุ์คือ Pterodactylus antiquus
มีฟอสซิลค้นพบที่บาวาเรีย ประเทศเยอรมัน มีอายุอยู่ในช่วงยุคจูราสซิกตอนปลาย (Tithonian ตอนต้น), ประมาณ 150.8–148.5 ล้านปีก่อน[1] ส่วนใหญ่พบที่ยุโรป และแอฟริกา
มันเป็นสัตว์กินเนื้อ และมีความเป็นไปได้ที่จะกินปลา และสัตว์เล็กตัวอื่น ๆ

มีฟอสซิลของเทอโรแดคทิลลัส มากกว่า 30 ตัวอย่าง และโครงกระดูกส่วนใหญ่มีลักษณะที่สมบูรณ์[2][3] Pterodactylus antiquus เป็นเทอโรซอร์ตัวเล็ก มีขนาดปีกประมาณ 1.04 เมตร (3 ฟุต 5 นิ้ว)*[2] บางสปีชีสอาจจะมีขนาดตัวเล็กกว่า. อย่างไรก็ตาม, มีเทอโรแดคทิลลัสที่รู้จักกันมาก ซึ่งรวมถึง Ctenochasma, Germanodactylus, Aerodactylus, Aurorazhdarcho, และ Gnathosaurus[4]
กระโหลกของเทอโรแดคทิลลัสนั้นยาวและบางมาก มีฟันทรงกรวย[2] ไม่เหมือนกับเทอโรซอร์ตัวอื่นๆ กระโหลก และขากรรไกรนั้นตรง ไม่เอียงขึ้น[5]
การแบ่งประเภท[แก้]
สกุลที่รู้จักกันในชื่อเทอโรแดคทิลลัส เมื่อก่อนมีชื่อว่า Petro-Dactyle โดย Cuvier ในปี 1809[6] หลังจากนั้นก็ตั้งใหม่เป็น Ptéro-Dactyle. ในปี 1812 โดย Samuel Thomas von Sömmerring
