โลกได้รับผลกระทบจากระลอกพายุสุริยะที่มีเปลวสุริยะและพายุแม่เหล็กโลกความรุนแรงมาก ตั้งแต่วันที่ 10 พฤษภาคม 2024 ในระหว่างวัฏจักรสุริยะที่ 25 พายุแม่เหล็กโลกที่กระทบโลกในครั้งนี้ถือว่ารุนแรงที่สุดนับตั้งแต่ตุลาคม 2003 และทำให้เกิดออโรราที่ละติจูดที่ต่ำลงมากว่าปกติ ทั้งในซีกโลกเหนือและซีกโลกใต้[1][2]

เมื่อวันที่ 8 พฤษภาคม 2024 บริเวณสุริยกัมมันต์ หมายเลข NOAA 13664 (หรือนิยมย่อเป็น 3664) ปล่อยเปลวสุริยะระดับ X1.0 กับระดับ M หลายครั้ง และปล่อยมวลโคโรนา (CMEs) อีกหลายครั้ง ซึ่งกระทบมาถึงโลก[3] เมื่อวันที่ 9 พฤษภาคม บริเวณกัมมันต์ได้ปล่อยเปลวสุริยะระดับ X2.25 กับ X1.12 ในวันที่ 10 พฤษภาคม ปล่อยเปลวสุริยะระดับ X3.98 และเมื่อวันที่ 11 พฤษภาคม ที่เวลา 01:23 UTC ปล่อยเปลวสุริยะนะดับ X ความรุนแรงระดับ 5.4–5.7[4][5][6]

ออโรรา[แก้]

การปล่อยมวลสุริยะสามครั้งจากวันที่ 8 เดินทางถึงโลกในวันที่ 10 พฤษภาคม 2024 ทำให้เกิดพายุแม่เหล็กไฟฟ้าโลกครั้งรุนแรงและออโรราที่สว่างและคงอยู่ยาวนาน ในทวีปเอเชีย ออโรราเหล่านี้สามารถมองเห็นได้จากประเทศญี่ปุ่น[7] บางหมู่บ้านในพื้นที่ห่างไกลของหันเลใน ลาดัก ประเทศอินเดียตอนเหนือ[8] และในประเทศจีน บริเวณใกล้เมืองอุรุมชี และ ปักกิ่ง[9][10]

ส่วนในยุโรป มีรายงานเห็นออโรราลงไปใต้ถึงประเทศสเปน[11] โปรตุเกส[12] และ ไซปรัส[13] ไปจนถึงหมู่เกาะคานารี[14]

ส่วนในอเมริกาเหนือ พบลงไปใต้ถึงหมู่เกาะคีย์ในรัฐฟลอริดา, ฮาวาย[15][16][17][18] ในประเทศเม็กซิโก มีมองเห็นในพื้นที่ตอนเหนือ ตอนกลาง[19][20] กับบนคาบสมุทนยูคาตัน[21] และหมู่เกาะบาฮามาส[22]

ในซีกโลกใต้ มีการเห็นออโรราในประเทศนิวซีแลนด์[23] ประเทศชิลี ประเทศอาร์เจนตินา[24] ประเทศแอฟริกาใต้[25] และขึ้นไปเหนือถึงประเทศอุรุกวัย[26] ประเทศนามิเบีย,[25] และในประเทศออสเตรเลีย ที่เมืองแม็กเคย์ในรัฐควีนส์แลนด์[27][28]
