ในช่วงก่อนเริ่มรายการเรสเซิลเมเนีย ครั้งที่ 32 เมื่อวันที่ 3 เมษายน ค.ศ. 2016 ลิตา นักมวยปล้ำหอเกียรติยศดับเบิลยูดับเบิลยูอี ได้ออกมาแนะนำเข็มขัดแชมป์หญิงเส้นใหม่พร้อมกับประกาศว่าในแมตช์สามเส้าระหว่าง ชาร์ลอตต์ แชมป์, เบกกี ลินช์ และซาชา แบงส์ หากใครสามารถเอาชนะในแมตช์นี้ก็จะได้ครอบครองเข็มขัดเส้นใหม่ไปทันที ปรากฏว่าชาร์ลอตต์สามารถเอาชนะคู่ปล้ำทั้ง 2 ได้สำเร็จทำให้เธอได้ครอบครองเข็มขัดเส้นใหม่นี้เป็นคนแรก[1][2][3][4][5][6]
ซึ่งเข็มขัดเส้นนี้ได้นำชื่อของแชมป์ WWE Women's Championship มาใช้แต่ไม่ได้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับเข็มขัดเส้นเดิมเลยแม้แต่น้อย
