Thanwa Boonsoongnern (Thai: ธันวา บุญสูงเนิน; born 1 December 1995), known professionally as The Toys, is a Thai singer, rapper, songwriter, musician and record producer. The meaning of The Toys comes from “the” meaning of the only one. Toy, a versatile Thai musician and producer, was born in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, into a family of musicians, with his mother famous for "เจ็บนิดเดียว(Chep Nit Diao)" and his aunt renowned for "ผู้หญิงคนหนึ่ง." His early passion for music led him to excel as a guitarist, achieving recognition as a world-class talent by becoming the national champion in the 9th Overdrive Guitar Contest.

Notably, Toy gained widespread popularity on YouTube with his hit "หน้าหนาวที่แล้ว(Last winter)" and became a prominent figure in the music industry. He joined the What The Duck record company, where he expanded his roles and successfully pursued his passion for music production.

Early life

Thanwa Boonsoongnern, his nickname is Toy, which came from the names of two uncles combined, Tom and Boy. he has a father named Thanaphongphan Buranakup and a mother named Nittaya Boonsoongnern, they live together without marriage, He said his family can be named as a ‘musician family’ because his family members all have an artist's attitude. Even though his parents don’t want him to be a singer, the conversation at home is still an attitude that is full of art.

He has been passionate about music since childhood. He started playing the guitar at the age of 7, his father’s old guitar gave him a feeling akin to playing a game, it seemed like a challenging yet enjoyable endeavor. During that time, playing guitar felt like watching a movie or a cartoon for him.

As a teenager, he formed a band with four friends at the age of 15, and he played various instruments, including the guitar, piano, drum, saxophone, trumpet, and clarinet. He attended the Light Ibanez Guitar Solo Competition 2014 and achieved second place. At the age of 16, Toy began taking recording jobs in a studio and started songwriting at 17, at this age he also secured a fifth-place position globally at the Kiesel Guitars Solo Contest. His interest in music production began in high school when his school required him to compose songs for a competition against other schools. He found this experience enjoyable and proposed an idea for a song, which was selected and led his school to achieve a third-place victory. This experience ignited Toy's interest in a career as a music producer. so he frequently interacts with senior musicians in the rehearsal room with opportunities to learn about sound recording and mastering techniques. At 19, he became the national champion in the 9th Overdrive Guitar Contest , which featured renowned guitarists like John McLaughlin and Guthrie Govan as judges. He said in an interview that He had been watching this show since he was a child and knew that those competitors that pass through this competition do not have to be the no.1 but just pass in the first round are very talented. At the age of 7, he commenced his guitar journey after he revealed in an interview that his fascination for music was sparked by his father's vintage guitar. He liked playing the guitar for a challenging game, and encouraged by these sensations, he resolved to this newfound interest. Beginning with the fundamentals of learning chords, he gradually refined his soloing abilities with the aspiration of making music.
