ภาษาผู้น้อย (Phunoi) มีผู้พูดในลาว 35,635 คน (พ.ศ. 2538) ในพงสาลี มีผู้พูดในประเทศไทยในจังหวัดเชียงราย ใกล้เคียงกับภาษามปี ภาษาปเยน และภาษาบีซู จัดอยู่ในตระกูลภาษาจีน-ทิเบต ตระกูลภาษาย่อยทิเบต-พม่า สาขาพม่า-โลโล สาขาย่อยโลโล แบรดลีย์ระบุภาษาที่อยู่ในภาษาผู้น้อยถึง 6 ภาษา[2]
ในแขวงพงสาลี มีผู้พูดภาษาผู้น้อยในอำเภอพงสาลีและอำเภอบุนใต้ (รวมหมู่บ้าน Langne) (Kingsada 1999)
