เส้นคอสมิค

เส้นคอสมิค เป็นสมมติฐานข้อบกพร่องทางวิชาโทโพโลยี 1 มิติ (topological defect) ซึ่งอาจจะเกิดขึ้นในระหว่างการทำลายความสมมาตร (symmetry breaking) ของการเปลี่ยนเฟส (phase transition) ของเอกภพในช่วงยุคต้น ๆ เมื่อทอพอโลยี (topology) ของแมนิโฟลด์สุญญากาศ (vacuum) ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความสมมาตรนี้ได้เกิดการทำลายแตกหักลงไม่ได้ถูกเชื่อมโยงแบบเชิงเดียว (simply connected) เข้าด้วยกัน
