วิฆเนศ ทรงธรรม

วิฆเนศ ทรงธรรม (Wickanet Songtham)(14 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2502 — ) เป็นนักธรณีวิทยาและ นักบรรพชีวินวิทยา ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านซากดึกดำบรรพ์พืช มีภูมิลำเนาเกิดที่ อำเภอขลุง จังหวัดจันทบุรี เป็นบุตรคนที่ 4 จากจำนวน 5 คน ของนายจินดา ทรงธรรม]] และนางสวงค์ ทรงธรรม (สง่าเนตร)

ประวัติ

วิทยานิพนธ์ปริญญาเอกหัวข้อเรื่อง Stratigraphic Correlation of Tertiary Basins in Northern Thailand Using Algae Pollen and Spores ได้รับรางวัลวิทยานิพนธ์ดีเด่นจากมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่ ปีการศึกษา 2546

วิฆเนศ ทรงธรรม หรือ ดร.วิฆเนศ ทรงธรรม เข้ารับราชการครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 29 มกราคม 2529 ในตำแหน่งนักวิทยาศาสตร์ 3 มีภารกิจทำหน้าที่สำรวจจัดทำแผนการขุดเจาะบ่อน้ำบาดาลที่ศูนย์ปฏิบัติการ รพช. ขอนแก่น สำนักงานเร่งรัดพัฒนาชนบท กระทรวงมหาดไทย ในปี พ.ศ. 2536 ได้โอนย้ายไปรับราชการที่กรมทรัพยากรธรณี กระทรวงอุตสาหกรรม ทำหน้าที่สำรวจและวิจัยซากดึกดำบรรพ์พืชและซากดึกดำบรรพ์สัตว์ไม่มีกระดูกสันหลัง

ผลงาน

มีผลงานวิจัยที่นำไปสู่การค้นพบซากดึกดำบรรพ์พืชจากชั้นหินมหายุคซีโนโซอิกมากมาย โดยเป็นการค้นพบซากดึกดำบรรพ์ทางเรณูวิทยา เช่น เรณูสัณฐานของพืชที่ปัจจุบันสูญพันธุ์ไปจากประเทศไทยแล้ว ได้แก่ ทูก้า สปรูซ แท๊กโซเดียม เป็นต้น และยังพบเรณูสัณฐานละอองเรณูของพืชเขตร้อนอีกมากที่นำไปสู่การเข้าใจการเปลี่ยนแปลงภูมิศาสตร์พืชบรรพกาล ระหว่างการวิจัยพบซากดึกดำบรรพ์ของเรณูสัณฐานมากมายและที่มีการศึกษาตั้งสายพันธุ์ใหม่คือสาหร่ายเซลล์เดียว 2 ชนิด คือ Actinastrum bansaense และ Closterium thailandicum ซึ่งเป็นสาหร่ายน้ำจืด
