Diploglossa คือกลุ่มของ Neoanguimorphs ที่อยู่ในวงศ์ Xenosauridae, Diploglossidae, Anniellidae และ Anguidae ซึ่งสามวงศ์หลังจัดอยู่ในวงศ์ใหญ่ Anguioidea [1] [2] [3] [4] ในอดีต จิ้งจกจระเข้จีน จัดอยู่ในประเภท xenosaurid; [5] งานด้านโมเลกุลในปัจจุบันได้แสดงหลักฐานเกี่ยวกับสปีชีส์ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับ varanoids ใน clade Paleoanguimorpha [1] [2] [6]
