Sripatum University was established by the inspiration of Dr. Sook Pookayaporn, the university’s founder, who was strongly determined to serve his beloved country by setting up an institute of higher learning to produce knowledgeable and capable personnel who will become essential human recourses needed for the country’s development.

The university has an assertive aspiration to cultivate high-quality graduates of diversified disciplines who are capable of thinking critically, applying their knowledge skillfully, leading a happy life in society, being very outstanding and gracious in conducting their professional lives ethically, and contributing to the country’s development.

Sripatum University has a very impressive history. It is one of the first five distinguished private universities in Thailand. It was established on May 28, 1970.   

The university received Her Royal Highness the late Princess Mother Srinagarindra’s divine grace to name it “Sripatum,” meaning “source of knowledge blooming like a lotus.” It also highly appreciated her Royal Highness’ presiding over the ceremony of unveiling of Sripatum College’s sign board and the first three commencements of degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

In later years, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn graciously assigned his Excellency Professor Sanya Thammasak, who was then the President of the Privy Council, to represent him to preside over the 4th – 10th commencements.

In 1987, the Ministry of University Affairs approved Sripatum University’s request to establish its Chonburi Campus.  The university received Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn’s divine grace to preside over the opening ceremony of Sripatum University at Chonburi on July 19, 1987.  

On December 18, 2000, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony of the 14-floor  Dr. Sook – Dr. Malinee Pookayaporn Multipurpose Building, fully equipped with modern learning facilities.

Sripatum University at Chonburi  offers both undergraduate and master’s degree programs in various disciplines, with emphases on up-to-date knowledge delivered by our full-time high quality lecturers and professors as well as by distinguished, nationally-renown guest speakers, learner-centered practical hands-on experience activities, and actual site visits to real workplaces to assure that our graduates meet the qualifications declared in  the university’s vision of “Wisdom, Skills, Cheerfulness, and Morality”.

          The university received Her Royal Highness the late Princess Mother Srinagarindra’s divine grace to name it “Sripatum,” meaning “source of knowledge blooming like a lotus.”

          The university’s emblem is a hexagon with a lotus inside.  The three lotus petals represent intellectual, skill, and joy, while the hexagon represents the surrounding people who aim to help our students become Wisdom, Skills, Cheerfulness, and Morality.

          The university’s colors are blue and pink.    

          The university’s flower is a pink Royal Lotus.

          The university’s tree is a Royal Palm.

1970

Sripatum University was established by the inspiration of Dr. Sook Pookayaporn, the university’s founder, who was adherent to philosophy “Education develops human resources who enrich the nation”. It is one of the first five distinguished private universities in Thailand.

1987

Sripatum University expanded to Chonburi to support the Eastern Seaboard and Economic Corridor. (EEC).

2013

Sripatum University expanded to Khon Kaen to support the expansion of businesses and trade in the Northeastern region and ASEAN.

2024

Sripatum University Chonburi Campus offers 9 undergraduate programs, 3 master's programs, and 1 doctoral programs.
