อีโมจิแสดงการหัวเราะแบบ LOL
LOL (ไทย: ลอล) เป็นคำย่อของ laughing out loud[1][2] หรือ laugh out loud[3] ซึ่งเป็นสแลงทางอินเทอร์เน็ต แต่เดิมเคยถูกใช้ในยูสเน็ต แต่ปัจจุบันได้แพร่หลายไปยังการสื่อสารแบบมีคอมพิวเตอร์เป็นสื่อกลางอื่น ๆ ไปจนถึงขั้นการสื่อสารแบบหน้าต่อหน้าอีกด้วย โดยเป็นหนึ่งในอักษรย่อซึ่งใช้แสดงอาการทางกายเป็นตัวอักษร โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง การหัวเราะ สำหรับคำย่ออื่นซึ่งเน้นการแสดงอาการหัวเราะเช่นเดียวกัน อย่างเช่น LMAO[4] ("laughing my ass off"), ROTFL[5][6][7][8] หรือ ROFL[9] ("roll (ing) on the floor laughing") และ BWL ("bursting with laughter")
