Sai Yok National Park

Sai Yok National Park comprises 19 protected sites between Myanmar and Thailand and is known for its waterfalls, caves, historical sites and raft houses along the River Kwai. There are few trails up to 2 km around the visitor centre leading to caves, remains of the Death Railway Bridge, natural springs, riverside viewpoints and waterfalls. Mammal species found in the park include elephants, gibbons, macaques, Malayan porcupines, slow loris, deers, wild boars and many more. Sai Yok is also home to two mammal species argued to be the world’s smallest ones. One of them is a rare species of a bat called Kitti's hog-nosed bat, which can be found in a limestone cave located close to the visitor centre. It is named after Kitti Thonglongya who found it for first time in 1973. These bats weigh around 2 grams and have wing-span of up to 10 cm.

There are several raft houses along the river Kwai with good views over the park. It is possible to hire a long-tail boat for a trip along the river. The visitor centre area features a campsite, bungalows, private raft houses, food stalls, restaurants, floating restaurants and number of attractions easily accessible by short hiking.
