แพขยะมหาสมุทรอินเดีย
แพขยะมหาสมุทรอินเดีย (Indian Ocean garbage patch) ค้นพบเมื่อปี ค.ศ. 2010 เป็นวงวนใหญ่ของขยะมหาสมุทร บริเวณห้วงน้ำด้านบนของมหาสมุทรอินเดียกลาง แพขยะมหาสมุทรอินเดียเป็นหนึ่งในห้าของแพขยะใหญ่ในมหาสมุทร[1][2][3][4][5] แพนี้ไม่ได้เป็นผืนแพขยะต่อเนื่อง พลาสติกมีการแตกเป็นชิ้นเล็กชิ้นน้อย ไปจนถึงส่วนประกอบของพอลีเมอร์[6] ขณะที่แพอื่น มีพื้นที่ที่ประกอบด้วยระดับพลาสติกที่ถมกันสูง ตะกอนทางเคมี และเศษขยะต่าง ๆ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งเป็นแผงที่สามารถเห็นได้ด้วยตาเปล่า ศูนย์กลางของแพขยะมหาสมุทรอินเดียประเมินได้ราว 10,000 ชิ้นต่อ 1 ตารางกิโลเมตร[7][8][9][10]
