แซม นีล (อังกฤษ: Sam Neill) เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 14 กันยายน ค.ศ.1947 (พ.ศ. 2490) เป็นนักแสดงชาวนิวซีแลนด์ เกิดที่ Omagh, County Tyrone ประเทศไอร์แลนด์เหนือ สหราชอาณาจักร แซมเป็นลูกชายคนที่สองของ Dermot Neill เจ้าหน้าที่ของกองทัพนิวซีแลนด์กับ Priscilla ภรรยาชาวอังกฤษ ในช่วงที่แซมเกิดนั้นพ่อของเขาถูกกองทัพส่งไปประจำในไอร์แลนด์เหนือ และครอบครัวของแซมได้ย้ายกลับไปยังนิวซีแลนด์ใต้ในปี 1954 แซมได้รับการศึกษาระดับประถมที่โรงเรียนประจำ Christ's College in Christchurch จากนั้นเขาก็ไปเรียนในระดับเตรียมอุดมที่ College House ในการดูแลของ University of Canterbury โดยเขาเลือกเรียนด้านวรรณคดีอังกฤษ จากนั้นเขาก็ย้ายไปอยู่ที่เวลลิงตันเพื่อเรียนต่อในระดับอุดมศึกษาที่ Victoria University โดยแซมได้รับปริญญาตรีศิลปวรรณคดีอังกฤษ
