สีฟ้า (sky blue) คือสีที่คล้ายสีของท้องฟ้าไร้เมฆตอนเที่ยงที่ไม่สะท้อนโลหะ ในภาษาอังกฤษ คำว่า "sky-blue" บรรจุอยู่ใน พจนานุกรมภาษาอังกฤษ ฉบับออกซฟอร์ด (1919) โดยเขียนว่ามีใช้ครั้งแรกในบทความ "silver" ใน Cyclopaedia แต่งโดย Ephraim Chambers ปี 1728 อย่างไรก็ดีมีการใช้คำว่า "sky blue" เป็นชื่อสีก่อน Chambers เช่น มีคำว่า "sky blue" ใน A Collection of Voyages and Travels (London: Awnsham and John Churchill, 1704), vol. 2, p. 322 โดยอธิบายสีนี้กับดอกไม้ ชื่อของสีนี้น่าจะมีการใช้ครั้งแรกเมื่อปี 1585 ในหนังสือของ Nicolas de Nicolay ที่เขียนว่า "the tulbant of the merchant must be skie coloured"[1]
