หม่อมหลวงธีรธวัช ศรีธวัช ปัจจุบันดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ข้าราชการพลเรือนระดับ 8 เป็นผู้ควบคุมคลินิกใบหน้าขากรรไกร ปฎิบัติหน้าที่ ณ หน่วยประดิษฐ์ใบหน้าขากรรไกรคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล อาคาร 5 ชั้น 8 รวมทั้งยังได้รับเชิญให้เป็นวิทยากรพิเศษ ของคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์, คณะแพทยศาสตร์ ของมหาวิทยาลัยต่างๆ ทั้งในประเทศและต่างประเทศ [1]
ประวัติ
หม่อมหลวงธีรธวัช ศรีธวัช เกิดที่กรุงเทพฯ เมื่อวันที่ 22 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2507 เป็นบุตรพลเรือตรีนายแพทย์ ดร. ม.ร.ว.ไกรธวัช ศรีธวัช รน. (ราชนาวี) และนางวนิดา ศรีธวัช อยู่ในราชสกุล “ศรีธวัช ณ อยุธยา” ซึ่งสืบเชื้อสายมาจากพระองค์ทวด พระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าศรีสิทธิธงไชย กรมขุนสิริธัชสังกาศ พระราชโอรสองค์ที่ 33 ของพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวรัชกาลที่ 4 กับเจ้าจอมมารดาบัว
การศึกษา
หม่อมหลวงธีรธวัช ศรีธวัช สำเร็จการศึกษา ชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 3 โรงเรียนกรุงเทพคริสเตียนวิทยาลัย ศึกษาต่อในระดับ High School ณ Holy Trinity Dioceses High School, เมือง Hicksville, รัฐ New York สหรัฐอเมริกา ศึกษาต่อสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์ทางทะเล ระดับปริญญาตรีที่ Fairfield University, รัฐ Connecticut ปริญญาโทสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์ (Molecular Biology) จากLong Island University รัฐ New York ระดับปริญญาเอก สาขาทันตแพทยศาสตร์ และผู้เชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะทางสาขาทันตกรรมประดิษฐ์ ณ New York University, College of Dentistry จากนั้นได้ศึกษาต่อระดับผู้เชี่ยวชาญพิเศษ สาขาการประดิษฐ์ใบหน้าขากรรไกร และ Dental Oncology ณ Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center หลังจากสำเร็จการศึกษาได้ดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ที่ New York University ปัจจุบันได้กลับมาประเทศไทย และดำรงตำแหน่ง ผู้ช่วยศาสตราจารย์ข้าราชการพลเรือนระดับ 8 ที่คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล รวมทั้งยังได้รับเชิญให้เป็นวิทยากรพิเศษ ของคณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์, คณะแพทยศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัยต่างๆ ทั้งในประเทศและต่างประเทศ
ความประทับใจในบรรพบุรุษในราชสกุล
ราชสกุลต่างๆ ได้มีความเกี่ยวข้องในการพัฒนาประเทศไทย มาเป็นระยะเวลาหลายยุคหลายสมัยโดยในส่วนของราชสกุลศรีธวัชนั้น พระองค์ทวด พระเจ้าบรมวงศ์เธอ พระองค์เจ้าศรีสิทธิธงไชย กรมขุนสิริธัชสังกาศ ได้รับพระบรมราชโองการพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าพระเจ้าอยู่หัวรัชกาลที่ ๕ ให้ทรงเป็น ”ประธานคณะคอมมิตตีจัดการ” จัดสร้างโรงพยาบาลศิริราชพยาบาลขึ้นในประเทศไทยมาจนสำเร็จ ซึ่งถือเป็นจุดเปลี่ยนแปลงการรักษาทางการแพทย์แผนปัจจุบันของวงการแพทย์ และทำให้ผมรู้สึกประทับใจทุกครั้ง เมื่อตื่นขึ้นมาตอนเช้าแล้วได้เข้าไปทำงานที่มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ส่วนท่านปู่มหาอำมาตย์โท หม่อมเจ้าธำรงศิริ ทรงพระยศเป็นสมุหเทศาภิบาลหลายมณฑล อาทิ มณฑลชลบุรี มณฑลร้อยเอ็จ มณฑลอุดร มณฑลจันทบุรี มณฑลปราจิณบุรี และมณฑลนครไชยศรี ซึ่งท่านทรงดูแลความเป็นอยู่ของราษฎร มีพระหทัยสนใจในความเป็นอยู่ของประชาชน นำความเจริญไปสู่ทุกๆที่ ที่ท่านได้ไปดูแล ส่วนคุณป๋า พลเรือตรีนายแพทย์ ดร. ม.ร.ว.ไกรธวัช ศรีธวัช รน. (ราชนาวี) ได้ให้ความสนใจในการแพทย์โดยได้นำเครื่อง Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber เข้ามาประยุกต์ใช้ในการรักษาผู้ป่วยเป็นคนแรกของประเทศ ซึ่งท่านรักในวิชาชีพมาก และมีความซื่อสัตย์สุจริตตามรอยพระบาทของพระองค์ทวดและท่านปู่ ทำให้ผมรู้สึกเป็นคนที่โชคดีมาก ที่ได้เกิดมาเป็นลูกหลานของท่าน
การทำงานหรืองานอดิเรกอันเป็นประโยชน์ต่อสังคม
ในฐานะที่เป็นราชนิกุล ผมจึงมีหน้าที่ ที่จะดำรงไว้ในกิจกรรมต่างๆที่บรรพบุรุษได้ทำไว้ และจะพัฒนาต่อไป ปัจจุบันผมถือว่าผมเป็นคุณครูคนหนึ่ง และเป็นคุณหมอที่จะต้องทำหน้าที่ให้ดีที่สุด ทั้งในด้านการเรียนการสอนและการให้บริการผู้ป่วยโรคมะเร็งที่ คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และผมได้ร่วมก่อตั้งหน่วยประดิษฐ์ใบหน้าขากรรไกรเทียม และทันตกรรมแก่ผู้พิการ หรือเป็นโรคมะเร็งใบหน้าขากรรไกร ซึ่งในปีหนึ่งๆ ทางหน่วยงานต้องรับผิดชอบในการดูแลผู้ป่วยสภาพความพิการบริเวณใบหน้าประเภทนี้เป็นจำนวน 6,000-7,000 คนต่อปี โดยผู้ป่วยกลุ่มนี้ต้องเข้ารับการรักษาอย่างต่อเนื่อง เพราะผู้ป่วยจะมีความทุกข์ทั้งทางกายและใจ ดังนั้นจึงเป็นหน้าที่ของทางหน่วยฯ ที่จะพยายามให้การรักษาผู้ป่วย เพื่อให้เขามีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น อีกทั้งงานวิจัยที่ทางหน่วยฯ ทำอยู่จะช่วยส่งผลในการพัฒนาการรักษาให้ดียิ่งขึ้นด้วย เมื่อเห็นผู้ป่วยมีความสุขผมก็รู้สึกมีความสุขไปด้วย ผมและทุกคนในหน่วยฯ จึงพยายามให้บริการผู้ป่วยอย่างเต็มที่ เพื่อให้ผู้ป่วยกลับเข้าสู่สังคมและใช้ชีวิตได้เหมือนคนปกติให้มากที่สุด นอกจากนี้ผมอยากให้รัฐบาลให้ความสนใจผู้ป่วยกลุ่มนี้เป็นพิเศษ เพื่อเปิดโอกาสทางสังคมให้แก่เขา เพราะคงไม่มีใครอยากจะเป็นส่วนเกินของสังคม ถึงผู้ป่วยเหล่านี้จะเคยประสบปัญหาโดยความพิการหรือได้รับการรักษาผ่าตัดส่วนของใบหน้าขากรรไกรออกไป เราก็สามารถช่วยให้เขามีชีวิตใหม่อีกครั้ง แต่ขอให้สังคมเข้าใจ และให้โอกาสเขาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของสังคมผมก็รู้สึกพอใจแล้ว
