เปลวสุริยะ (อังกฤษ: Solar flare) คือการระเบิดใหญ่ในชั้นบรรยากาศของดวงอาทิตย์ ที่ปลดปล่อยพลังงานออกมาถึง 6 × 1025 จูล[1] (ประมาณ 1 ใน 6 ของพลังงานที่ปลดปล่อยจากดวงอาทิตย์ทุกวินาที) คำนี้สามารถใช้เรียกปรากฏการณ์ลักษณะเดียวกันที่เกิดขึ้นบนดาวฤกษ์อื่นๆ โดยจะเรียกว่า เปลวดาวฤกษ์ (stellar flare)
เปลวสุริยะส่งผลกระทบต่อชั้นบรรยากาศของดวงอาทิตย์ทั้งหมด (โฟโตสเฟียร์, โครโมสเฟียร์, และโคโรนา) ทำให้พลาสมามีความร้อนถึงหลายสิบล้านเคลวิน และเร่งอนุภาคอิเล็กตรอน โปรตอน และไอออนหนักจนเข้าใกล้ความเร็วแสง เกิดการแผ่รังสีแม่เหล็กไฟฟ้าผ่านข้ามสเปกตรัมแม่เหล็กไฟฟ้าที่ทุกช่วงความยาวคลื่น นับตั้งแต่คลื่นวิทยุไปจนถึงรังสีแกมมา เปลวสุริยะส่วนมากจะเกิดขึ้นในย่านแอ็กทีฟเช่น บริเวณจุดมืดดวงอาทิตย์ ซึ่งมีสนามแม่เหล็กกำลังแรง รังสีเอ็กซ์และการแผ่รังสีอุลตราไวโอเล็ตที่แผ่ออกมาโดยเปลวสุริยะสามารถส่งผลกระทบต่อชั้นบรรยากาศของโลก และทำลายการสื่อสารด้วยคลื่นวิทยุช่วงยาว การปะทะของคลื่นโดยตรงที่ความยาวคลื่นขนาดเดซิเมตรอาจรบกวนการทำงานของเรดาร์และอุปกรณ์อื่นๆ ที่ทำงานในช่วงความถี่ดังกล่าว
