ปลาเมือก
ปลาเมือก (Leptocephalus) หมายถึงตัวอ่อนที่มีลักษณะโปร่งแสงของปลาจำพวกปลาไหลในช่วงอายุสามเดือนแรก ครอบคลุมกว่า 801 สายพันธุ์ใน 24 วงศ์[1] ปลาเมือกมีกล้ามเนื้อที่บางมาก ร่างกายไม่มีเซลล์เม็ดเลือดแดง มีอวัยวะเพียงปากและลำใส้เส้นเดียวเท่านั้น[2] ไม่มีครีบใดๆทั้งสิ้น มีลำตัวที่โปรงแสงขนาดราว 5 เซนติเมตร ปลาประเภทนี้ถือกำเนิดในยุคครีเทเชียส เมื่อ 140 ล้านปีก่อน[1]
