พยาธิตืดหนู (ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์: Hymenolepis diminuta) เป็นพยาธิตัวตืด มีไข่และปล้องใหญ่กว่าพยาธิตืดแคระ (Hymenolepis nana) เล็กน้อย พยาธิตืดหนูติดเชื้อในสัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมโดยผ่านแมลง
พยาธิตืดหนูพบได้ทั่วโลกแต่มีรายงานผู้ติดเชื้อเพียงไม่กี่ร้อยคน[1][2][3] มีรายงานผู้ติดเชื้อน้อยในประเทศออสเตรเลีย สหรัฐอเมริกา สเปน และอิตาลี แต่ในประเทศอย่างเช่น มาเลเซีย ไทย จาเมกา อินโดนีเซีย มีจำนวนผู้ติดเชื้อที่มากกว่า[4][5][6]
วงจรชีวิต[แก้]
วงจรเริ่มจากสัตว์ขาปล้องกินไข่ ไข่พัฒนาเป็น cysticercoid[7] สัตว์ฟันแทะติดเชื้อโดยการกินสัตว์ขาปล้องจำพวกหมัด ผีเสื้อ และด้วง มนุษย์โดยเฉพาะเด็กสามารถกินสัตว์ขาปล้องและติดเชื้อได้เช่นเดียวกัน พยาธิโตเป็นตัวเต็มวัยและออกไข่ปนมากับอุจจาระ สัตว์ฟันแทะโดยเฉพาะหนูเป็นแหล่งกักเก็บพยาธิชนิดนี้

การติดเชื้อมักไม่มีอาการ อาจมีอาการปวดท้อง คัน อีโอซิโนฟิลสูงได้
