Neuroptera หรือ แมลงปีกตาข่าย เป็นอันดับของแมลง ซึ่งประกอบด้วย เลซวิง แมนทิดฟลาย แอนต์ไลออน และญาติของพวกมัน อันดับนี้มีสปีชีส์ที่รู้จักประมาณ 6,000 ชนิด[1] Neuroptera ถูกจัดอยู่ในกลุ่ม Neuropterida (ซึ่งเคยรู้จักในชื่อ Planipennia) ร่วมกับ Megaloptera (ออลเดอร์ฟลาย, ฟิชฟลาย และดอบสันฟลาย) และ Raphidioptera (สเนคฟลาย)
ตัวเต็มวัยของ Neuroptera มีปีกโปร่งแสงสี่ปีกที่มีขนาดใกล้เคียงกันและมีเส้นปีกจำนวนมาก มีอวัยวะปากสำหรับกัดกิน และมีการเจริญเติบโตแบบการเปลี่ยนแปลงรูปร่างสมบูรณ์ (complete metamorphosis)
Neuroptera ปรากฏขึ้นครั้งแรกในช่วงยุคเพอร์เมียน และยังคงมีความหลากหลายเพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยมาตลอดยุคมีโซโซอิก[2] ในช่วงเวลานี้ ได้มีการวิวัฒนาการของ Neuroptera ขนาดใหญ่ที่มีรูปร่างผิดปกติ โดยเฉพาะวงศ์ที่สูญพันธุ์ไปแล้วอย่าง Kalligrammatidae ซึ่งมักถูกเรียกว่า "ผีเสื้อแห่งยุคจูแรสซิก" เนื่องจากมีปีกขนาดใหญ่และลวดลายที่โดดเด่น[3]
