English: 13th century sword (not El Cid's), exhibited at the Royal Armoury of Madrid (Catalogue number "G22", Catálogo histórico-descriptivo de la Real Armería de Madrid (1898)). In an old Inventory of the treasury of Segovia (1503), it was identified as Roland's sword, called the "Joyosa del bel cortar," but Hoffmeyer labels it as "The sword of San Fernando (or Alfonso el Sabio)" (Hoffmeyer (1982), pp. 44-47)

This is supposed to be a sword used by El Cid, a famous Spanish knight. It was exhibited in a museum at the Royal Palace, Madrid, Spain. This picture was taken on May 18, 2006.
