ลาป่าแอฟริกา (African Wild Ass) เป็นลาป่าที่อยู่ในวงศ์ Equidae[3] เชื่อกันว่าเป็นบรรพบุรุษของลาบ้านซึ่งบางส่วนจัดไว้อยู่ในชนิดเดียวกัน[4] อาศัยอยู่ในทะเลทรายและพื้นที่แห้งแล้งอื่น ๆ ทางตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของทวีปแอฟริกา ในประเทศเอริเทรีย, ประเทศเอธิโอเปียและประเทศโซมาเลีย ก่อนหน้านี้ลาป่าแอฟริกามีการกระจายพันธุ์กว้างจากทางเหนือถึงตะวันตก ในประเทศซูดาน, ประเทศอียิปต์ และ ประเทศลิเบีย ปัจจุบันเหลือประมาณ 570 ตัวในป่า
