ภาษาศาสตร์ชาติพันธุ์

ภาษาศาสตร์ชาติพันธุ์ (อังกฤษ: ethnolinguistics บางครั้งเรียกว่า cultural linguistics) เป็นสาขาหนึ่งของภาษาศาสตร์มานุษยวิทยาที่ศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างภาษาหรือกลุ่มภาษาและพฤติกรรมทางวัฒนธรรมของผู้คนที่พูดภาษาเหล่านั้น

สาขาวิชานี้จะตรวจสอบว่าวัฒนธรรมต่าง ๆ สร้างแนวคิดและจัดหมวดหมู่ประสบการณ์ต่าง ๆ อย่างไร เช่น แนวโน้มเชิงพื้นที่และปรากฏการณ์ทางสิ่งแวดล้อม ภาษาศาสตร์ชาติพันธุ์นำเอาแนวทางต่าง ๆ เช่น อรรถศาสตร์ชาติพันธุ์ (ethnosemantics) ซึ่งวิเคราะห์ว่าผู้คนจำแนกและกำหนดโลกของตนเองอย่างไร และการวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบ ซึ่งวิเคราะห์คุณลักษณะ อรรถศาสตร์ของคำเพื่อทำความเข้าใจความหมายทางวัฒนธรรม
