ภาษาบัซการ์ดี เป็นภาษากลุ่มอิหร่านตะวันตกเฉียงใต้[2][3]ที่พูดกันทางตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ของประเทศอิหร่าน ในจังหวัดเคร์อน ซีสถานและบาโลชิสถาน และโฮร์โมซกอน ภาษานี้มีความใกล้ชิดกับ Garmsiri, Larestani และ Kumzari
ภาษาบัซการ์ดีตอนเหนือ หรือ Marzi Gāl มีความใกล้ชิดกับเพิ่อนบ้ายมากกว่าภาษาบัซการ์ดีตอนใต้ หรือ Molki Gāl[4] และจัดให้เป็นภาษาย่อยของภาษา Garmsiri (หรือรู้จักกันในชื่อ Bandari) เพื่อนบ้าน[5][6]
วิธภาษาบัซการ์ดีที่พูดกันในพื้นที่ตอนในอาจไม่ได้อยู่ในบัซการ์ดีทั้งทางเหนือและใต้ทั้งหมด[6]

From what has been published it would seem that North Baškardi is more closely related to its western relatives than to South Baškardi.
