ตะพาบยูเฟรทีส (อังกฤษ: Euphrates softshell turtle; ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์: Rafetus euphraticus) สัตว์เลื้อยคลานจำพวกเต่าชนิดหนึ่ง จัดอยู่ในวงศ์ Trionychidae หรือ ตะพาบ
เป็นตะพาบที่อาศัยอยู่ในแม่น้ำไทกริสและยูเฟรทีส ใน อิรัก, ซีเรีย, ตุรกี และในจังหวัดคูเซสถาน ของอิหร่าน[3]
ตะพาบยูเฟรทีสเป็นที่รู้จักของนักวิทยาศาสตร์ชาวตะวันตกเมื่อนักธรรมชาติวิทยาชาวฝรั่งเศส กีโยม อังตวน ออวิลีเย ยิงตัวอย่างได้ในขณะที่ข้ามแม่น้ำยูเฟรทีสใกล้อานาห์ ในเดือนมิถุนายน ค.ศ. 1797[4] ชาวท้องถิ่นบอกว่าเนื้อของสัตว์ชนิดนี้ก็ไม่เหมาะที่จะกิน แต่ไขมันของมันได้รับการยอมรับว่าใช้ทำยารักษาโรคผิวหนังได้หลากหลายชนิด ออวิลีเยจึงตั้งชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ให้ว่า Testudo rafcht โดยกล่าวว่า "ชาวอาหรับเรียกมันว่า rafcht "[5]

ต่อมานักธรรมชาติวิทยาส่วนใหญ่อ่านคำว่า rafcht ของออวิลีเยผิดเป็น rafeht[8] โดยชื่อ Rafetus euphraticus และสกุล Rafetus ถูกตั้งขึ้นโดย จอห์น เอ็ดเวิร์ด เกรย์ นักสัตววิทยาชาวอังกฤษ ในปี ค.ศ. 1864 พร้อมกับชื่อต่าง ๆ มากมาย เช่น Trionyx euphraticus, Testudo euphraticus, Trionyx rafeht, Tyrse rafeht และ Testudo rafeht[9]
ปัจจุบัน สถานะของตะพาบยูเฟรทีสอยู่ในภาวะใกล้สูญพันธุ์ เนื่องจากถูกคุกคามด้วยมลพิษและรุกรานถิ่นที่อยู่อาศัยในธรรมชาติ และถูกฆ่าโดยชาวประมง[3]
