กองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักร (อังกฤษ: British Army) เป็นกองกำลังภาคพื้นดินที่สำคัญของสหราชอาณาจักรซึ่งดูแลและควบคุมโดยกองทัพสหราชอาณาจักร ในปี พ.ศ. 2561 มีบุคลากรในกองทัพที่ประจำการอยู่ (เวลาเต็ม) มากถึง 81,000 คน และมีบุคลากรที่ไม่ประจำการ (ทำเป็นกะ) 27,000 คน[4]
กองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักรในยุคสมัยใหม่ก่อตั้งในปี พ.ศ. 2250 โดยยุคแรกเริ่มกองทัพบกอยู่ในชื่อว่า กองทัพอังกฤษ ซึ่งก่อตั้งในปี พ.ศ. 2203 คำว่า "กองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักร" ได้รับแต่งตั้งชื่อในปี พ.ศ. 2250 หลังจากมีพระราชบัญญัติสหภาพ ระหว่างอังกฤษและสกอตแลนด์[5][6] บุคลากรในกองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักรทุกคนจะต้องถวายสัตย์ปฏิญาณต่อพระมหากษัตริย์แห่งสหราชอาณาจักร ในฐานะที่พระองค์ทรงดำรงตำแหน่งผู้บัญชาการทหารสูงสุดแห่งกองทัพ[7] ร่างพระราชบัญญัติว่าด้วยสิทธิพื้นฐานของพลเมือง ค.ศ. 1689 ได้กล่าวว่า กองกำลังที่จะรักษาพระองค์นั้นจะต้องได้รับอนุญาตจากมกุฎราชกุมาร ดังนั้น กองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักรจึงไม่มีคำว่า "กองทัพในสมเด็จฯ"[8] อย่างไรก็ตาม รัฐสภาได้มีการให้อนุมัติให้กองทัพออกพระราชบัญญัติกองกำลังทางทหาร ทุกๆ 5 ปี กองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักรเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการบริหารของกระทรวงกลาโหมสหราชอาณาจักร และต้องอยู่ใต้บัญชาการของเสนาธิการทหารบก[9]
กองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักรได้เคยเข้าร่วมมหาสงครามครั้งใหญ่ระดับโลกมาแล้วหลายสงคราม อาทิเช่น สงครามเจ็ดปี, สงครามนโปเลียน, สงครามไครเมีย และสงครามโลกครั้งที่หนึ่งและสอง การที่สหราชอาณาจักรชนะในมหาสงครามที่มีผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงบนโลกนั้น ทำให้สหราชอาณาจักรมีความเป็นผู้นำทางด้านทหารและเสรษฐกิจอยู่ในระดับสูง[10][11] หลังจากการสิ้นสุดของสงครามเย็นนั้น กองทัพบกสหราชอาณาจักรได้เข้าร่วมรบกับพื้นที่ที่ยังมีความขัดแย้งอยู่ร่วมกับกองทัพฝ่ายสัมพันธมิตร หรือไม่ก็ช่วยเหลือทางด้านทหารกับกองกำลังสหประชาชาติ[12]
