เมซีเย 106 (รู้จักกันดีในชื่อ NGC 4258) เป็นดาราจักรชนิดก้นหอย ในกลุ่มดาวสุนัขล่าเนื้อ ค้นพบ โดย Pierre Méchain ในปี ค.ศ. 1781 อยู่ห่างประมาณ 22-25 ล้านปีแสงออกไปจากโลก และยังเป็นดาราจักรชนิดเซย์เฟิร์ตที่ 2 ซึ่งหมายความว่าเนื่องจากรังสีเอกซ์และรังสีที่ผิดปกติเส้นที่ตรวจพบ ได้เป็นที่น่าสงสัยว่าเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของดาราจักรตกหลุมเข้าไปในหลุมดำมวลยวดยิ่งในใจกลาง[7] NGC 4217 เป็นกาแลคซีคู่หูที่เป็นไปได้ของเมซีเย 106[6]
